"Creation's Critters" the Wildlife of the Pacific Northwest -- Steve
Hayley - 4/15/00
Science teacher and wildlife biologist Steve Hayley speaks on the
wildlife of the pacific northwest. This is an updated version of his talk
given last year on the Institute for Creation Research's Mount St Helens
field study tour, in which DSA's Keith Swenson and Hayley both participated
as educational staff. In this multimedia presentation, utilizing color
slides and overheads, Steve encourages us to consider the origins of the
varied wildlife that we observe, asking such questions as:
 | What was God's method of creation? |
 | When did creation occur? |
 | What was the original condition of created life? |
 | Is there a difference between "species" and "created kind"?
|
 | Are living organisms best depicted as a tree, a lawn or a forest? |
Steve surveys some of the unique wildlife of the Pacific Northwest,
viewing and discussing color slides of common, as well as not-so-common
species. Specific examples of the Creator's creativity will be mentioned.

The Deschutes River- Geology/ Biology-
Dr Keith Swenson/ Steve Hayley
In preparation for a DSA raft trip down a section of the Deschutes river
near the town of Maupin, Dr Keith Swenson and Steve Hayley talk about the
geology (Swenson) and biology (Hayley) and show slides.

Dechutes River Wildlife Field Trip --
Leader: Dr Keith Swenson 5/02 (VCD & VHS) This is the first digitally
edited DSA field trip. Join an enthusiastic group on a spring day as we
observe and discuss wildlife along the lower Deschutes River. Passing
through both riparian and sagebrush habitat, leader Keith Swenson make
several stops for interpretive talks "in the field". Emphasis is on birds,
but all critters encountered (including one snake) were considered fair game
for discussion. (taped 5/2002 58 minutes) |

Molecular Biology- Vern Bissell Ph.D.
Recent research on human DNA suggests that all women living today are
descendants of a common female ancestor, gamely referred to by evolutionist
researchers as "Eve". Also, research indicates that all men living today are
apparently the descendants of a common male ancestor. Vern Bissell suspects
that this is evidence for the actual existence of an Adam and Eve, and
discusses how evolutionists have stretched out the time elapsed from the
first couple until now, using faulty assumptions. Researchers have now
possibly (unwittingly) found evidence for Shem, Ham, and Japeth (Noah's
son's), in DNA.

Facts and Fiction About Bats- Ron
Lyttle
Bats possess such a marvelous coordination of sonar and flight that it is
hard to imagine that this ability could have developed by chance. In
addition, there is no fossil evidence for bat evolution. Presented by Oregon
Zoo "Bat Talker" Ron Lyttle.

Mount St. Helens Biological Recovery - Dr. Keith Swenson
Approximately 19 years after the great devastation caused by the May 18,
1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, an amazing recovery by the plants and
animals of the region is taking place. Scientists are learning many new
things about how such events take place. We can get some idea of how the
earth may have recovered after the Flood by studying the blast zone at Mount
St Helens.
