Aurora Borealis --
Brandon Church 4/20/02
One does not have to search very far in this world to find that the One
who created it is a God who loves beauty. It's all around us, at every scale
imaginable, from the complex workings of the cell to the immense glory
revealed by the heavens. In all of creation, however, this attribute of our
Lord's is rarely seen so clearly, and His artistic imagination rarely stands
out with such dazzling beauty as we find in the Northern Lights.
The Aurora has been observed for thousands of years, and has been
surrounded by legend and mythology for most of its history. In fact, it has
only been in recent decades that we are coming to an understanding of the
processes that cause this awesome phenomenon to happen. In this April
meeting, Brandon Church sheds some light on the Northern Lights, detailing
its history and its processes that so many in the past have speculated
about. The awesome physics that produce this wonderful display are
illuminated and described in basic terms that all can understand. Since a
study of the Aurora leads us to consider the magnetic field of the earth,
Brandon spends some time detailing its nature, its decay, and current
creationist and evolutionist views of its history. Much of this information
will come from the work of physicist Dr. Russell Humphreys. During the
course of this presentation, we focus on the intelligence of God, the beauty
of God, and the creativity of God. In learning more about our world and
about His work, we learn more about Him, and in doing so, we can expect to
gain a deeper sense of awe and wonder concerning our Maker.

Biochemistry vs.
Evolution -- Brandon Church 6/17/00
In the twentieth century, advancing technology has allowed us to probe
the depths of the cell and observe structures only dreamed about in the ages
before. We have come to an awareness of the actual chemistry that supports
life, and of the extreme complexity that separates the organic from the
inorganic. Through the course of our discoveries in past decades,
sophisticated laboratories have been built, education has been increased,
dozens of theories have been formed, and countless experiments have been
conducted, largely colored with evolutionist presuppositions. However, their
combined results point to one very clear fact: life was supernaturally
created.
DSA speaker Brandon Church details several experiments and research
methods that had been intended to give us a better understanding of how life
evolved. These naturalistic "origin of life" theories are discussed,
probability studies will illuminate models of life's progression, and the
supposed mechanisms of evolution are examined in detail. Furthermore, dozens
of confessions from evolutionists verify that evolution is, in fact,
impossible.
Brandon Church was born and raised in a Christian family in Idaho, and
has always had a love for science. After receiving a degree in electronics
technology and moving to Oregon to work, Brandon witnessed for the first
time the union of the Bible and science at the 1999 Northwest Creation
Conference. This triggered an intense study that has progressed for over a
year. Through the course of this study, Brandon has been preparing a
presentation, that when complete, will cover a wide range of creation
topics.
